Sikkim: Mangan District Road Agencies Ordered to Enhance Communication and Reporting

Northeast Desk, 29th June: The major agencies responsible for road construction and maintenance in Mangan District, which include Roads & Bridges (NH Division), Roads & Bridges Department (PWD), 86 RCC GREF, 87 RCC GREF, 107 RCC GREF, and PMGSY under the Rural Development Department, have been directed to improve their communication and reporting practices.

During a field inspection conducted from June 25 to June 27, 2024, it was discovered that stakeholders were not being adequately informed about the status of road openings and closures, the expected time for road openings, and the progress of ongoing work.

To address this issue and ensure proper connectivity in the district, Anant Jain, IAS, DC-cum-Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Mangan, has issued several directives:

  1. Daily Road Status Updates: Agencies must communicate the daily road opening and closure status by 7:30 AM.
  2. Progress Reports: A daily progress report for unopened roads must be submitted by 4:00 PM.
  3. Leave Notification: If the concerned officer is on out-of-station leave, the District Collector must be informed.

These orders are effective immediately and will remain in force until further notice, aiming to improve the efficiency and transparency of road management in Mangan District.
