Sikkim: Manhunt Intensifies for Fugitive in Samshong Tamang Case
Gangtok: The investigation into the Samshong Tamang case has intensified, with law enforcement agencies ramping up efforts to apprehend the accused, who remains on the run.
Despite being served a legal notice to appear before the Investigating Officer at Sadar Police Station on February 7, the accused has been untraceable since February 2, switching off his phone and evading authorities.
The case was registered on February 3, 2025, following a complaint by executive members of the Akhil Sikkim Khas Chettri Bahun Kalyan Sangh. In response to the accused’s failure to comply with the directive, officials sought a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) from the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Gangtok, to expedite his arrest. Surveillance efforts have been launched in coordination with police forces in neighboring regions to track his movements.
Under the directive of Sikkim’s Director General of Police (DGP), three special teams, led by SSP Gangtok and comprising SDPO Gangtok, three PIs, and multiple officers, have been deployed to conduct extensive raids across North Bengal and New Delhi. Both technical and human intelligence are being leveraged, with investigators pursuing multiple leads to locate the fugitive.
Authorities have assured that efforts are ongoing and that the accused will be brought to justice. Updates on the search operation will follow as developments unfold.
