Sikkim: Massive Rally in 23 Syari Constituency Champions Mothers and Condemns Illegal Activities

Gangtok: A powerful demonstration of community spirit unfolded in the 23 Syari Constituency as residents actively participated in the “Ama Kho Ashu Pushna Lathi” rally on April 28, 2025. This significant event, held with the esteemed blessings of Hon’ble Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, served as a poignant tribute to mothers on Mother’s Day.

Spearheaded by the dedicated Area MLA, Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, the rally conveyed a deeply emotional and resolute message: the collective aspiration that no mother in the region should ever have to endure the pain of tears due to societal ills.

The central aim of this impactful rally was to generate widespread awareness and vehemently promote a firm stance against all forms of illegal activities. A particular focus was placed on combating the escalating issue of harmful drug peddling, which has become an increasing source of worry within the community. The movement emphatically underscored the constituency’s steadfast dedication to upholding a policy of zero tolerance towards such detrimental practices.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic engagement from a diverse spectrum of community stakeholders. This included esteemed Councillors, dedicated members of the Zilla and Gram Panchayats, diligent BDO officials, committed CLC members, energetic Youth Convenors, and representatives from numerous respected societies and organizations. Notably, personnel from the Gangtok Police (including PI, WDS, and BDS units), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), various local clubs, and the taxi association also lent their strong presence, highlighting a unified front in support of this vital cause.

The procession commenced from the Chandmari Park Stand, with participants marching purposefully towards the Rongyek Senior Secondary School Ground. This unified march effectively broadcast a powerful message of solidarity, community cohesion, and shared accountability. The “Ama Kho Ashu Pushna Lathi” rally powerfully symbolized the collective yearning of the community for a safer, healthier, and more compassionate Sikkim – a cherished homeland where the dignity of every mother is protected, and the scourge of illegal practices is completely eliminated.
