Sikkim MP Dr. Indra Hang Subba Stresses Renewable Energy Expansion at Parliamentary Estimates Committee Meeting

Northeast Desk, September 4, 2024 — Dr. Indra Hang Subba, Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, underscored the urgent need for expanding renewable energy initiatives to mitigate the escalating impacts of climate change during a meeting of the Estimates Committee. The session, chaired by Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, took place at the Parliament House Annexe Extension Building and focused on evaluating schemes under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Dr. Subba, known for his strong advocacy of environmental sustainability, emphasized the immediacy of the climate crisis, stating, “We are the first generation to feel the effects of climate change, and the last generation who can do something about it.” His remarks reflect the increasing global push for sustainable energy as a vital solution to the climate emergency.
