Sikkim: Namchi Gears Up for State-Level Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan with Key Preparations Underway

Gangtok: In anticipation of the upcoming State-Level Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan, a high-level preparatory meeting was convened at the District Administrative Centre, Namchi, under the chairmanship of Satish Chandra Rai, MLA of 11-Namchi Singhithang.

The event, scheduled from March 2 to March 4, is set to bring together renowned artists and cultural figures from across the country, celebrating India’s rich artistic heritage.

The meeting saw the participation of Namchi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anupa Tamling, Additional District Collector (ADC) (HQ) Subash Ghimirey, SDMs, Heads of Offices (HoOs), and representatives from various government departments. Discussions primarily focused on ensuring the smooth execution of the cultural gathering, with emphasis on infrastructure, logistics, and event coordination.

According to the finalized schedule, the inaugural ceremony on March 2 will take place at Namchi Central Park, while the main cultural events on March 3 and 4 will be hosted at Namchi Town Hall. A key highlight of the festival will be the presence of renowned Indian film director and screenwriter Anurag Basu, along with distinguished artists from various parts of the country, adding prestige to the event.

To enhance the city’s visual appeal ahead of the festival, MLA Satish Chandra Rai has directed all concerned departments to undertake a cleanliness and beautification drive across Namchi town. He also stressed the importance of maintaining hygiene in public spaces, including restrooms, and assured his active participation in the initiative.

DC Namchi, Anupa Tamling, called for seamless coordination among departments, urging officials to extend full cooperation to make the event a resounding success. She assured that preparations would be closely monitored and necessary support would be provided to ensure smooth execution.

A major attraction of the Kalakar Bharosa Sammelan will be the presence of Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang as the Chief Guest, further underscoring the event’s significance as a platform for cultural exchange and artistic appreciation.
