Gangtok: In a significant stride against the burgeoning menace of drug peddling, Namchi police have apprehended a 24-year-old individual from Mamley village, recovering a substantial quantity of suspected contraband. The operation, a direct outcome of a precise intelligence tip-off, underscores the police’s unwavering commitment to their ongoing #TimetoHunt campaign aimed at eradicating drug abuse in the region.

The accused has been identified as Adon Chettri, son of Kazi Man Chettri, a resident of Mamley, Namchi. Acting swiftly on credible information, a dedicated team of local police orchestrated a meticulously planned operation that culminated in the seizure of a considerable amount of illicit substance from his possession. While the exact nature and quantity of the recovered narcotic, believed to fall under the purview of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, have been withheld pending forensic examination, the seized material has been duly sealed for further investigation. A case has been officially registered under the pertinent sections of the NDPS Act at the Namchi Police Station, and authorities confirm that a thorough investigation is presently underway to unearth further links and dismantle the drug supply chain.
