Sikkim: New Governing Body of All Sikkimese Bhutia Association Takes Oath
Gangtok: The All Sikkimese Bhutia Association (Denzong Lho Poi Chokpo) ushered in a new era on Sunday as its newly elected governing body took their oath of office. The ceremony, held in Gangtok, was graced by Minister Sonam Lama as the chief guest.
Chutem Lendup Denzongpa, a former Principal Chief Commissioner of the Income Tax Department, Government of India, was elected unopposed as the president. Senior advocate Jorgay Namka was also elected unopposed as the general secretary.
During the ceremony, both office bearers pledged to serve the community diligently. Minister Sonam Lama presented the Certificate of Election, officially marking the commencement of their tenure.
In his address, President Chutem Lendup Denzongpa highlighted the need for a collective effort to address the challenges faced by the Sikkimese Bhutia community. He assured the community of the association’s commitment to their welfare.
Minister Sonam Lama congratulated the new governing body and expressed confidence in their ability to drive positive change. He reiterated the government’s dedication to the development of all communities under the leadership of Chief Minister P.S. Golay, in line with the vision of “Sunowlo Sikkim, Samridhha Sikkim.”
The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Tourism Minister Tshering T. Bhutia, retired Justice Sonam Phintso Wangdi, Martam Rumtek MLA Sonam Venchungpa, and other prominent members of the community.
