Sikkim: Ninth Batch of Postal Ballots Received by DEO Namchi for Service Voters

Northeast Desk, 22nd May: On May 22, the District Administrative Centre in Namchi received the ninth batch of postal ballots from service voters via the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS). This batch, consisting of 20 postal ballots, was handed over by a postal official to the DEO Namchi and the Nodal Officer (ETPBS). With this latest delivery, the total number of postal ballots received for all Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Namchi District has reached 388.

Following protocol, the received ballots were segregated and securely stored in ETPBS boxes by the respective Returning Officers (ROs) for each AC. The entire process was videographed in accordance with the Election Commission of India’s guidelines, ensuring transparency and accountability. Election agents from various political parties were also present during the process.

Earlier Postal Ballot Delivery in Soreng District

In a similar operation, Soreng district received its 20th batch of postal ballots from service voters on May 21. This batch, comprising six postal ballots, was delivered by the Soreng Post Office and handed over to Mrs. Rajni Pega, the Nodal Officer, in the presence of key officials including Ms. Yishey D. Yongda (DEO-cum-DC), Mr. Gideon Lepcha (SDM Mangalbaria), and election agents representing different political parties.

These meticulous procedures reflect the Election Commission’s commitment to ensuring that service voters can participate in the electoral process securely and transparently.
