Sikkim Police Accelerates Investigation into Samson Tamang Hate Speech Case
Gangtok: Sikkim’s Director General of Police has ordered an expedited investigation into the case involving Samson Tamang, following pressure from the state BJP leadership over his alleged hate speech targeting the Khas community.
Led by Thapa, the head of BJP’s Sikkim unit, a party delegation visited the police headquarters, where the DGP confirmed the registration of an FIR and assured swift action. The police chief instructed the Superintendent of Police to fast-track the investigation.
The BJP has strongly condemned what it calls “delayed action” against Tamang over his alleged casteist remarks, which have been circulating on social media. The party is demanding his immediate arrest and the removal of the controversial content, warning that any further inaction could jeopardize the state’s social harmony.
The case has generated significant public outrage, with the BJP accusing the state administration of failing to maintain peace. The party has called on all communities to stand united against divisive forces and safeguard Sikkim’s tradition of mutual respect.
