Northeast Desk, 1st September: In a disturbing incident, the Sikkim Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting his 9-year-old stepdaughter in Soreng district. The complaint was lodged on August 30 at the Soreng Police Station after the victim was brought to the Soreng Community Health Center (CHC) with a history of repeated sexual abuse.
Responding swiftly to the complaint, police registered an FIR under Sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The accused stepfather was subsequently arrested and has been placed in police custody as the investigation continues.
