Sikkim Police Seize Illicit Drugs in Melli Checkpost
Gangtok: Sikkim Police made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing fight against drug abuse. In a recent operation at Melli Checkpost, officers intercepted a 30-year-old man allegedly carrying a substantial amount of illicit drugs.
The apprehended individual, identified as Roshan Gupta, a resident of Nayabazar in Soreng district, was traveling from Siliguri to Jorethang. During a routine vehicle inspection, vigilant police personnel discovered a concealed stash of 108 strips of Winspasmo Forte capsules, totaling 864 capsules, within his belongings.
These capsules, often misused for recreational purposes, are categorized as controlled substances under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA). The Melli Police Station has registered a case against Gupta, who remains in custody as authorities delve deeper into the matter to uncover the source and intended destination of the seized drugs.
