Sikkim Prepares for Upcoming Visit of 16th Finance Commission Team

Gangtok: In anticipation of the upcoming visit by the 16th Finance Commission team, Sikkim’s Chief Administrator-cum-Cabinet Secretary, VB Pathak, convened a high-level meeting to review and finalize preparations.

The meeting, held at the Tashiling Secretariat, emphasized ensuring a seamless and well-coordinated experience for the dignitaries during their stay from January 19 to 23.

Pathak directed senior state officials to meticulously oversee all aspects of the visit, including transportation, accommodation, and the execution of scheduled meetings and field visits. He stressed that the arrangements must be flawless to facilitate productive discussions and engagements with the team.

The meeting saw the participation of key officials, including Chief Secretary R Telang, DGP Akshay Sachdeva, and all Heads of Departments, District Collectors, and officers from various line departments. The collaborative effort aims to reflect Sikkim’s preparedness and commitment to showcasing its developmental priorities during the visit.

Officials stated that the Finance Commission’s visit will involve crucial discussions and field inspections, making this preparation phase vital to ensuring the success of the agenda. The visit is expected to highlight Sikkim’s governance and fiscal management strategies while providing an opportunity for the state to present its developmental needs to the Commission.
