Sikkim has been ranked the 4th Best Governed State in the small state category based on the Public Affairs Index 2020 (PAI 2020), the annual ranking of the states of India on governance performance. The 5th consecutive annual edition of PAI 2020 was launched on Friday, October 30, 2020, in a virtual event. The states have been ranked on the performance of governance based on a Composite scale.
It is analyzed in the context of sustainable development defined by three pillars Equity, Growth and Sustainability; 5 themes, 13 SDGs and 50 indicators. PAI 2020 also features an analysis of states’ performance over time(2015-2020) and inter-state comparisons on performance.
Likewise, Kerala has emerged as the best-governed state in the Large State Category while Goa takes the number 1 spot in the Small State Category. The Chief Minister of Sikkim expressed his pleasure and stated that the state government will continue with their endeavors towards the welfare of the Sikkimese people. He thanked the citizens for their contributions and urged them to carry on with their efforts to transform Sikkim into a model state.
