Sikkim: Schools and Colleges in Gangtok Shut for Chief Minister’s Swearing-in Ceremony
Northeast Desk, 8th June: All government and private schools, colleges, and academic institutions within the Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) area will remain closed on June 10, 2024. This closure is due to the swearing-in ceremony of the Hon’ble Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, scheduled to be held at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok.
The decision to close educational institutions aims to accommodate the extensive security arrangements and traffic restrictions necessary for the smooth conduct of the ceremony. With vehicle movement heavily restricted, the closure will help minimize disruption and ensure public order during the high-profile event.
Students, parents, and staff of the affected institutions have been notified to make appropriate arrangements in light of the closures. It’s important to note that this closure is a one-day measure specifically for the swearing-in event, and normal academic activities are expected to resume promptly thereafter.
Authorities are working diligently to ensure the success of the swearing-in ceremony while prioritizing the safety and convenience of all attendees and residents in Gangtok.
