Northeast Desk, 25th July: On July 22, 2024, a significant landslide struck the Naga and Rel Ward areas near the approach road to Naga Public Ground under Toong Naga GPU, posing a severe threat to life and property. The landslide has potentially affected around 28 houses in the region.

In response, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of Mangan District, led by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chungthang, conducted an urgent inspection on July 22 and 23. The assessment team, which included the Panchayat President and local Panchayat members, evaluated the damage and immediate risks.

To address the situation, authorities have redirected runoff water into a drainage system and covered the affected area with tarpaulin sheets. Residents in the impacted and nearby areas have been advised to remain vigilant and relocate to safer locations during heavy rainfall until restoration works are completed or the monsoon season ends.

The SDM has urged all residents in the affected zones to adhere to safety measures and evacuation instructions to ensure their well-being.
