Sikkim: SKM Legislators Unanimously Support NDA at Centre

Northeast Desk, 7th June: In a significant development, a meeting of SKM legislators convened today under the leadership of Chief Minister and SKM President PS Tamang at Mintokgang. The gathering saw the unanimous passage of a resolution to extend support to the NDA at the Centre, with the lone MP, Indrahang Subba, set to back the NDA in government formation.

As per sources, Chief Minister Tamang is slated to depart for Delhi on Saturday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The ceremony is tentatively scheduled for June 10, according to sources from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

Earlier on June 7, Chief Minister Tamang welcomed former Members of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Dil Kumari Bhandari and Nandu Thapa, at his official residence, Mintokgang. This meeting served as a gesture of gratitude for their contributions to the state.

Expressing heartfelt appreciation, Tamang thanked the former MPs for their warm felicitations and unwavering support towards the SKM party. He particularly lauded Bhandari’s pivotal role in the Nepali language recognition movement, a milestone achievement that secured official recognition in 1992.

Wishing both Bhandari and Thapa good health, happiness, and prosperity, Chief Minister Tamang underscored the significance of unity and collaboration in driving Sikkim’s progress forward. The meeting underscored the ethos of solidarity and cooperation as essential pillars for shaping the state’s future trajectory.
