Sikkim: SSB Gyalshing and Horticulture Department Host Beekeeping Workshop
Northeast Desk, 29th May: In a commendable effort to promote sustainable beekeeping practices and enhance the skills of their personnel, the 36th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Gyalshing, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department, organized a one-day workshop on beekeeping.
The workshop was attended by Ajeet Mohan, Commandant of the 36th Battalion, whose presence underscored the importance of such educational initiatives for the welfare and professional development of SSB personnel.
Sushil Chandra Chhetry, a seasoned Beekeeping Instructor from the Horticulture Department, led the workshop. He provided comprehensive training on various aspects of beekeeping, including colony management, honey extraction techniques, and the ecological and economic benefits of beekeeping.
Fifteen personnel from the 36th Battalion participated actively, gaining valuable insights and practical knowledge to enhance their beekeeping skills. The workshop not only aimed at skill development but also at promoting ecological balance and sustainable practices within the community.
This initiative reflects the commitment of both the SSB and the Horticulture Department to foster new skills and support environmental sustainability among the personnel.
