Sikkim: Temporary Water Supply Measures Implemented for Namchi Town After Rainfall Damage

Northeast Desk, 13th June: Namchi Town authorities have implemented temporary water supply arrangements following heavy rainfall on June 9, 2024, which caused significant damage to the main water supply pipeline. Engineers from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department have identified local water sources to be tapped and diverted to the main reservoir at Ghurpisey.

Due to the limited water discharge from these local sources, the PHE Department has established a distribution schedule to ensure an adequate supply of water across Namchi. Additionally, water tankers have been deployed to meet the community’s demands.

Sonam Karthak, Assistant Engineer at the PHE Department, has been appointed as the nodal officer to oversee the temporary water supply arrangements and ensure efficient distribution during this period.
