Sikkim to Celebrate 50 Years of Statehood with ‘Sikkim@50: Golden Jubilee Conclave’ in May 2025
Gangtok: Sikkim is set to commemorate a major milestone in 2025 as the Himalayan state marks 50 years of its statehood.
To celebrate this golden jubilee, the Press Club of Sikkim (PCS), in collaboration with the Government of Sikkim and the State Information & Public Relations Department, will host a landmark event titled ‘Sikkim@50: Golden Jubilee Conclave’ on May 13 at Adampul in Gangtok.
The event is positioned as a national-level platform to reflect on Sikkim’s democratic journey, development trajectory, and strategic significance over the past five decades. The official logo of the conclave was unveiled by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, who also serves as the chief patron of the organizing committee.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held in Rabong on April 16, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the conclave in initiating forward-looking discussions on the future of the state.
The one-day conclave will feature three high-powered panel discussions involving key policymakers, strategic experts, and industry leaders.
Topics will span critical issues such as national security, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and economic transformation—underscoring Sikkim’s unique identity as a border state with increasing relevance in India’s northeastern development strategy.
Sikkim’s role in strengthening national security, enhancing regional connectivity, and its strategic value along the India-China border will form a central theme of the discussions. With its eco-sensitive landscape, the state’s experience in balancing progress with environmental consciousness will also be a key focus.
The conclave will further explore investment prospects in sectors like organic agriculture, green energy, sustainable tourism, and film production—areas where Sikkim has already set national benchmarks and seeks to attract more domestic and international engagement.
As Sikkim steps into a new era, the Sikkim@50 conclave is poised to shape critical narratives on the state’s development while reinforcing its integral role in India’s future.
