Sikkim Tragedy: Teenager Dies as Family Vehicle Plunges into Ravine
MANGAN: A pall of gloom has descended upon Ringhim village after a devastating road accident in Sikkim’s Mangan district claimed the life of a 13-year-old boy and left three of his family members injured late on Sunday night. The tragic incident unfolded as the family was en route to their home in Ringhim from Gangtok, their journey cut short by an unforeseen catastrophe.
Officials reported that the vehicle carrying the family veered sharply off the road around 10:30 PM, plunging into a deep ravine. The remote location and late hour did not deter immediate action, as emergency teams, bolstered by the unwavering support of local residents, swiftly mobilised for a harrowing rescue operation. Their collective efforts, though commendable, could not avert the ultimate tragedy.
The young teenager, whose identity has not been released, succumbed to his injuries at the accident site, a life extinguished far too soon. Meanwhile, the three injured passengers, members of the same grieving family, were rushed with urgency to STNM Hospital in Gangtok, where they are currently receiving medical attention. Details regarding their condition remain undisclosed at this time, adding to the anxiety of relatives and well-wishers.
