Sikkim Tragedy: Wreaths To Be Placed in Bagdogra on Deceased Army Personnel

Guwahati: The wreath-laying ceremony will be performed at the Bagdogra airport in West Bengal in memory of the 16 Army officers who lost their lives in the tragic road accident in Zema of North Sikkim on Saturday evening.

According to the Indian Army, wreaths will be laid on the soldiers’ mortal remains in the technical sector of the Bagdogra airport.

It should be noted that on Friday in North Sikkim, an army truck that was carrying 16 jawans crashed off a cliff and into a deep ditch.

Meanwhile, it has come to the fore that three among the deceased jawans were Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO).

The incident happened in Sikkim’s Jema Hills, a rural area 15 kilometres from Lachen town.

According to reports, the vehicle that rolled into the ditch was a part of a three-vehicle convoy that was travelling from Chatten to Thangu. It was making an attempt to navigate a tight turn when the accident occurred.

The four injured soldiers were airlifted as soon as a rescue attempt was initiated.
