Sikkim: Tshering Wangdi Lepcha Resigns from SDF Amid Party Restructuring by Pawan Chamling
Northeast Desk, 9th September: Tshering Wangdi Lepcha, former Minister of the Lachen Mangan Constituency, has officially resigned from the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) Party. Lepcha, who has been with the party since 1993, expressed his appreciation for the knowledge and experience he gained during his long political career.
Citing unavoidable personal reasons, Lepcha announced his decision to step down. His resignation comes shortly after SDF President Pawan Chamling dissolved several key party committees on September 2, 2024, as part of a sweeping internal restructuring effort.
During the Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting, Chamling dissolved all party committees except for four—Administrative & Legal Affairs, Social Media Affairs, Publicity Affairs, and the Election Committee. Chamling described the move as essential for revitalizing the party, with new committees and leadership appointments expected soon.
