Sikkim: Update on Postal Ballots Received in Soreng District

Northeast Desk, 21st May: The Soreng district received its 20th batch of postal ballots from service voters today, comprising a total of six postal ballots. This delivery was facilitated by the Soreng Post Office.

The handover of postal ballots to Mrs. Rajni Pega, the Nodal Officer, occurred in the presence of key officials including Ms. Yishey D. Yongda, the DEO-cum-DC, and Mr. Gideon Lepcha, SDM (Mangalbaria), along with election agents representing various political parties.

Adhering to Election Commission of India (ECI) norms, all received postal ballots underwent secure storage and sealing procedures at the District Administrative Centre (DAC) in Soreng. The process was conducted under the supervision of the DEO/DC, nodal officers, and election agents, and was fully videographed to ensure transparency and accountability.

Since April 16, 2024, the district has amassed a total of 158 postal ballots for the four Assembly constituencies within Soreng, signifying active participation in the electoral process among service voters in the region.
