Gangtok: A proud moment for Sikkim and the entire Northeast as Anamika Gurung, a dedicated Young Changemaker from Guruthang Busty in the state’s Gyalshing district, has been invited by the Government of India to attend the 2025 Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi. This special honour places her among an exclusive group of guests who will be part of the nation’s most significant annual event.

Following the Independence Day ceremony, Anamika will represent Sikkim and the Northeast with pride at the prestigious President’s At-Home Reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Hosted by President Droupadi Murmu, this esteemed event is a hallmark of the country’s national calendar. Her invitation is a testament to her impactful work and will give her the opportunity to interact with the nation’s top leadership, including the President, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers, and other prominent national leaders.

Before the reception, Anamika will witness the flag hoisting ceremony and the Prime Minister’s address at the iconic Red Fort, standing alongside dignitaries and special invitees. This rare chance to be part of the national ceremony and the subsequent reception marks a huge recognition of her quiet yet impactful contributions as a Young Changemaker.

Speaking on the humbling invite, Anamika Gurung said, “Even though my contributions as a Young Changemaker have never stood out as something big, I’ve always tried to give my best quietly, without seeking attention. But being called to the President’s At-Home Reception… it’s something I never imagined. I owe this to MyBharat Kendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and above all, to my parents for their values and support. This moment belongs to them.” Her words reflect the humility and gratitude that have earned her this exceptional honour.
