Sikkim’s Animal Husbandry Department Launches Statewide Plantation Drive

Northeast Desk, 21st July: In a robust effort to promote environmental sustainability, the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department of Sikkim launched a successful plantation drive across all six districts under the initiative “One Health: One Vet, One Plant.”

The event kicked off at the Sokeythang Animal Husbandry Complex in Gangtok, spearheaded by Dr. Sharman Rai, Principal Director cum Secretary of the department. District heads, officers, and staff participated enthusiastically, reflecting a strong commitment to the green initiative.

The drive saw the planting of over 1,000 plants, primarily fodder varieties, emphasizing the department’s dedication to integrating health and environmental care under the “One Health” approach. This initiative underscores the importance of environmental sustainability in promoting overall health and well-being.
