Sikkim’s Medhavi Skills University Holds Historic Convocation Ceremony
Gangtok: Sikkim Education Minister Raju Basnet attended the inaugural convocation ceremony of Medhavi Skills University at Chintan Bhavan in Gangtok, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
The event celebrated the achievements of the university’s first batch of graduates and highlighted the growing importance of skill-based education in shaping the global economy.
The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, including Professor Mahendra P Lama, Emeritus Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of Sikkim. Minister Basnet, the chief guest, emphasised the significance of skill-based education, praising Medhavi Skills University for providing students with practical knowledge to build successful careers. “The future belongs to those who are skilled,” he said. “Universities like Medhavi Skills University play a crucial role in shaping the workforce of tomorrow.”
The convocation hall was filled with excitement as students, faculty members, parents, and dignitaries gathered to witness the moment. Professor Lama congratulated the students, appreciating their hard work and dedication. He encouraged them to remain determined, face challenges with confidence, and cultivate resilience in life. “Success comes to those who work hard and never give up,” he advised.
Professor Lama also discussed the concept of “soft power,” highlighting its role in spreading happiness and making a difference in the world. He cited South Korea’s cultural influence, exemplified by the popularity of K-pop band BTS, as a prime example of soft power in action.
The ceremony was also attended by Chancellor Pravesh Dhanju, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Singh, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kuldeep Sharma, and Registrar Dr. Siddharth Sankar. Each of them congratulated the students and wished them success in their future endeavors. As the students received their degrees, many were emotional, reflecting on their journey from their first day at university to this special moment.
