Gangtok: Sikkim continues to make its mark in the national kickboxing arena as Phur Deeki Sherpa has once again emerged victorious at the WAKO India National Kickboxing Pro League. The talented athlete secured her second championship belt in the fiercely competitive -56kg Low Kick category.
The prestigious tournament, held from April 15 to 17, 2025, unfolded at Nawab Ali Park in Khidderpore, Kolkata, witnessing intense battles among the nation’s top kickboxers. Representing the Sikkim Association of Kickboxing (SAKO) with unwavering determination, Sherpa showcased exceptional skill and resilience throughout the competition.
Sherpa’s journey to this remarkable achievement involved overcoming formidable opponents from across the country. Hailing from the serene village of Latuk in Pakyong District, Phur Deeki Sherpa carries the legacy of her late father, Chenga Sherpa. Having participated in eight national championships, she has amassed a remarkable collection of eight medals, including five golds, two silvers, and one bronze.
