Gangtok– In a significant step toward bolstering Sikkim’s infrastructure, Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Nar Bahadur Dahal actively participated in a two-day “Review Meeting for National Highways Projects” in the national capital. Organized by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), the meeting assessed the status of 18 ongoing highway projects in Sikkim, covering 260 kilometers. The discussions centered on advancing the state’s connectivity and modernizing road infrastructure.

Minister Dahal praised the leadership of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, whose visionary approach, he said, has been instrumental in transforming Sikkim’s road network. Dahal also acknowledged NHIDCL’s dedication and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring timely project completion, pledging full cooperation between the state government and NHIDCL.

The review meeting brought together an array of key stakeholders, including state officials, engineers, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors. This collaborative effort aimed to overcome project challenges, expedite timelines, and enhance transportation infrastructure not only within Sikkim but across the broader North-Eastern region.

The session underscored the importance of strong partnerships in achieving the state’s infrastructure goals, with the ultimate aim of improving connectivity and fostering regional growth.
