Sikkim’s Sanklang Bridge Reconstruction to Be Completed by June 30
Gangtok: The reconstruction of the permanent Sanklang bridge in Dzongu, which was severely damaged by the Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), is set for completion by June 30, according to Mangan Deputy Commissioner Anant Jain. The bridge serves as a vital link between Mangan and Dzongu, and its restoration is crucial for ensuring smooth connectivity in the region.
To address potential disruptions, authorities have implemented contingency measures, including the use of footbridges and transshipment operations, similar to those carried out in 2024. These backup plans aim to provide essential connectivity and support for local residents and travelers.
Despite the ongoing repair work, officials have assured that North Sikkim remains accessible to tourists via the Fidang-Dzongu route. Efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience for visitors, reinforcing the state’s commitment to maintaining tourism activity while expediting infrastructural recovery.
