Guwahati: The Basketball Association of Sikkim (BAS) has confirmed that the state’s Under-23 basketball team will compete in the Under-23 National Basketball Championship in Guwahati from March 18 to 24.
Announcing the news on March 15, BAS General Secretary Jigmela Wazilingpa revealed the team’s lineup, which will be led by Captain Tenzin Tsephel Wangyal and Vice Captain Paljor Rilon Wangdi. The squad includes:
• Hishey Ngedup Wangyal
• Riwong D. Bhutia
• Gnoedrup D. Denzongpa
• Sonam Wangyal Bhutia
• Karma Gyaltsen Bhutia
• Saamir Hang Subba
• Chewang Norbu Lepcha
• Pema Wongchen Bhutia
• Hrishal Thapa Manger
• Sahil Rai
The team will be managed by Sonam T. Barfungpa, who will serve as the head coach.
With the championship just around the corner, there is growing excitement among the local basketball community, and the team is expected to put up a strong showing on the national stage.
