SIRD Arunachal Partners with IIM Shillong to Boost Local Leadership

Northeast Desk, 2nd August: The State Institute for Rural Development (SIRD) in Arunachal Pradesh has formed a strategic partnership with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong, aimed at enhancing leadership and management skills at the grassroots level. This collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), is focused on empowering Panchayat representatives to spearhead village-level development initiatives.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his support for this initiative on social media, emphasizing its potential to significantly advance the state’s progress. “This collaboration will equip our local leaders with essential skills and knowledge, driving sustainable development in our villages,” he noted.

The partnership will prioritize comprehensive training programs designed to arm local leaders with the tools necessary to achieve Localized Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) within their communities. This strategic initiative is expected to profoundly impact rural development across Arunachal Pradesh.

By enhancing the capabilities of grassroots-level officials, the state aims to foster more effective governance and expedite the implementation of development projects in villages. The collaboration between SIRD Arunachal Pradesh and IIM Shillong marks a significant step towards strengthening local governance structures and promoting sustainable growth in the northeastern state.
