Bongaigaon: In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the suicide of Public Works Department (PWD) Assistant Engineer Jyoshita Das, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) today conducted a raid at the Abhayapuri residence of controversial contractor Rudra Pathak. The operation, which commenced in the early hours, reflects intensified efforts to unravel the circumstances that led to Das’s tragic demise.
Jyoshita Das, an engineer with the PWD in Bongaigaon, was found to have taken her own life, a devastating incident that swiftly led to the arrest of the department’s SDO, another Assistant Engineer, and an architect engineer. However, public outcry and allegations pointed fingers squarely at Rudra Pathak, with claims surfacing that his alleged corrupt practices and the ensuing mental duress directly contributed to Das’s desperate act. Pathak is reportedly known for his proximity to the Chief Minister, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding drama.
Following sustained pressure and widespread protests from various organizations demanding justice for Jyoshita Das, the SIT moved decisively to search Pathak’s premises. Speaking to reporters after the extensive search operation, Bongaigaon district’s Additional Superintendent of Police N. Singso stated that while the investigation remains active and ongoing, no fresh arrests have been made in connection with today’s raid.
