SIT Seeks Review of 241 Officers’ Answer Sheets in APSC Scam Investigation

Guwahati, 27th October: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) involved in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) scam has taken a significant step by seeking court approval to review the answer sheets of 241 officers whose names have been linked to the scandal. The SIT Deputy Chief, Prateek Thube, has submitted a petition to the special judge’s court for review.

This comprehensive review will assess the answer sheets of the 241 registered officers and examine the marks they obtained in these answer sheets. The move comes after the retired justice Biplab Kumar Sharma Commission completed its judicial investigation into anomalies and malpractices during the Combined Competitive Exam (CCE) of the APSC in 2014.

The commission submitted a 380-page report to the Assam Government’s Home Department on October 21, following an extended deadline granted by the Gauhati High Court until October 15, 2023. The report is expected to shed light on the irregularities and misconduct that occurred during the examination.

The SIT’s pursuit of reviewing the answer sheets signifies a crucial phase in the investigation, aiming to ensure transparency and accountability in the APSC scandal.
