Six Accused in Guwahati Kidnapping Murder Case Have New Sections Implied Upon Them
Guwahati: The six accused in the murder and kidnapping case of Biswajit Hazarika had new sections added to their accusations.
Sections 120(B)/364(A)/344/302/201 are the new sections that have been added to the charges against the six defendants.
The six suspects had previously been lodged under Sections 365 and 387 under case number 2284/22.
It should be noted that Biswajit Hazarika was abducted on the evening of October 9 of last year while riding a rickshaw home. The abductors submitted a video of Biswajit and demanded a 40 lakh rupee ransom in return for his release.
An unidentified body was discovered in Assam’s Nellie area on November 1 after a month, and it was eventually determined to be Biswajit’s.
The victim’s parents requested an investigation from the Guwahati Commissioner of Police on February 9 following the incident. Six people were then arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder case when the police began an investigation.
The six accused have been identified as video editor of a news portal Debajit Deka, Ajay Kalita, Pranab Ranghang, Sanjay Kumar Phagat, Paresh Chetri and Mayur Nath.
A Guwahati court ordered the six accused in the murder and kidnapping case to spend seven days in police custody on February 14.
