SKM Marks 13th Foundation Day with Vision for a Progressive Sikkim
Gangtok: The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) celebrated its 13th Foundation Day on February 4 with widespread enthusiasm, marking a significant milestone in the party’s political journey.
The day was observed across the state, reflecting SKM’s commitment to justice, development, and the welfare of the people of Sikkim.
Chief Minister and SKM President Prem Singh Tamang addressed the occasion, extending his gratitude to party members for their unwavering dedication and perseverance.
He recalled the party’s origins and the struggle it endured to bring political change to Sikkim, emphasizing that SKM was not just a party but a movement born out of the people’s fight against oppression.
He highlighted the challenges faced in the past and how the party’s formation symbolized a collective aspiration for justice, dignity, and equality.
The chief minister credited the unwavering support of the people for SKM’s transition from an opposition force to a governing entity.
He lauded the contributions of party workers across different levels, acknowledging their tireless efforts in strengthening the party’s foundation.
He reiterated that SKM’s success lies in its grassroots connection, ensuring that governance remains inclusive and responsive to public needs.
Reflecting on his government’s achievements since assuming power in 2019, CM Tamang outlined key initiatives that have transformed healthcare, education, tourism, and employment opportunities in Sikkim.
He highlighted the CM Medical Assistance Scheme and CM Education Assistance Scheme, which provide financial aid to those in need, along with initiatives like Sikkim Ama Sashaktikaran Yojana and Vatsalya Yojana, aimed at empowering women and families.
The Mega Homestay Project was also underscored as a major step in boosting tourism and rural entrepreneurship, while the CMDG Initiative continues to support youth and financially weaker sections.
Tamang asserted that these programs are not merely schemes but fundamental pillars of Sikkim’s development.
He emphasized that the people of Sikkim have moved beyond a past of fear and oppression, where voices were stifled, and expressed pride that today’s governance promotes transparency, press freedom, and social equality.
He affirmed that the SKM government remains committed to peace, harmony, and inclusive growth, urging every citizen to actively participate in governance under the newly introduced slogan “Hamro Sahabhagita, Hamro Safalata” (Our Participation, Our Success).
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister urged Sikkim’s citizens to align with national aspirations as the state gears up to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2025, coinciding with India’s broader vision for Vikshit Bharat 2047.
He called for unity under TEAM SIKKIM, encouraging people to actively contribute towards a prosperous future. With a strong resolve to serve Sikkim, CM Tamang reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to the people, pledging to uphold justice, equality, and the principles of good governance.
