Soldier Killed in Fierce Encounter with Terrorists in J&K’s Udhampur, Operation Ongoing
National: A soldier was killed during a fierce exchange of fire between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday, officials confirmed. The gunfight erupted in the Dudu-Basantgarh region following a joint cordon and search operation launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs regarding terrorist movement, the White Knight Corps initiated the operation, which quickly escalated into a firefight. “Based on specific intelligence, a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched today in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur. Contact was established and a fierce firefight ensued,” the Corps stated on social media platform X.
The identity of the slain soldier has not been disclosed, as efforts are still underway to secure the area and eliminate any remaining threats. Security forces are combing through the dense forest terrain to track down militants who may still be hiding.
