Sonowal Visits J&K as Part Of Government’s Outreach Initiative
Guwahati: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday as part of a programme for public outreach by the Center.
The Minister gave the recipients a total of Rs 12.35 lakh in financial aid from several programmes, including Housing for All (Urban) and Higher Education Assistance by the Labor Department.
The PMEGP sanction letters, hearing aids, wheelchairs, prosthetics and orthotics, income certificates, Golden Cards, sports equipment, and sanction letters for the construction of trout and carp fish ponds at Mini Secretariat Ganderbal were also distributed by the Union Minister to the beneficiaries.
Sonowal visited the booths set up by several departments to advertise their offerings on the lawn of the Mini Secretariat Complex Ganderbal.
Along with DDC Vice-Chairperson Bilal Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir, Director AYUSH Dr. Mohan Singh, SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, and other officers, Sonowal visited the booths and carefully examined the local goods while learning more about the various programmes, particularly those that provide locals with opportunities for employment. The minister has previously introduced an e-Rickshaw service from a small Secretariat Ganderbal.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Sonowal stated that the J-K UT has received special attention from the Union Government, and that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strong leadership, development, peace, and security are progressing there at the same rate.
The Minister afterwards went to the Boys Higher Secondary School in Manigam, where he saw a yoga class in progress and also stopped by the DEMO herbal garden that had been established on the school’s grounds.
The Minister also dedicated two roads: a 3.20 km road connecting Khurhama to Chewa that was built under PMGSY at a cost of Rs 222.90 lakh, and a 3.65 km road connecting NHW and Kachnambal that was built under PMGSY phase III at a cost of Rs 311.95.
The Minister also stopped by the stalls set up by the Directorate of AYUSH on the lawn of BHSS Manigam, where a variety of locally cultivated medicinal plants were on show for both therapeutic and nutritional purposes. Under the AYUSH National Mission, the Minister also gave communities medicinal herbs.
When the residents requested a health and wellness centre, he gave them the assurance that their request would be met in a timely way.
The Minister stated that the Union government has made numerous measures to promote peace, development, and security in J-K and that numerous initiatives are launched in this regard under the Prime Minister’s direction.He sought the cooperation of all towards full filling the dream of PM Modi of making India self-reliant.
Speaking on the occasion Sonowal said, “Kashmir is even more beautiful when it is peaceful, secured and on the path of rapid growth. Under the dynamic leadership of PM Modi, the people in the entire region from Jammu to Kashmir to Ladakh have become important stakeholders in our quest to become an Atmanirbhar country by the end of the Amrit Kaal.”
“Due to the hard work and sincere effort of PM Modi, the region has seen peaceful days where life is secure as people join the effort to build a new India and bring prosperity and development to the region,” he added.
