Special Operation in Assam Nets Heroin Worth 420 Grams, Two Arrested

Guwahati, 9th May: In a targeted effort to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics, a specialized operation was conducted in Boko, Assam in the early hours of May 9th, 2024, under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP) Kalyan Pathak.

During the meticulously executed operation, law enforcement authorities intercepted an Alto vehicle suspected of being involved in the transportation of illicit substances. Upon thorough inspection, officers uncovered a concealed cache of narcotics hidden within the steering wheel column. The discovery amounted to a significant seizure, with 30 packets containing heroin, weighing approximately 420 grams, being confiscated.

Further investigations led to the apprehension of two individuals suspected of association with the illicit drug trade. The arrested individuals, identified as Kabel Uddin (33 years old) and Sabur Ali (52 years old), both residents of Goroimari village under the jurisdiction of Barpeta Police Station, were found to be involved in the transportation and distribution of narcotics, indicating the widespread reach of the illicit network operating within the region.

In accordance with legal procedures, the apprehended suspects, along with the seized contraband and vehicle, were promptly handed over to the authorities at Boko Police Station for further legal action. This swift and decisive action underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to prosecute offenders and dismantle the networks facilitating illicit drug trafficking.
