Speeding Car Kills 7 Pilgrims

Guwahati: At least seven persons were killed after a speeding car struck a procession of pilgrims in the Solapur district of Maharashtra on Monday night.

As per reports, a party of 32 pilgrims were on a multi-day holy walk from Jatharwadi in the Kolhapur district to the temple town of Pandharpur when the accident occurred at 6.45 pm close to Sangola town.

An official reported that the group had begun their three-day pilgrimage in Kolhapur when a speeding sports utility vehicle (SUV) driver lost control and ploughed into them from behind.

Meanwhile, the chief minister Eknath Shinde promised the family members of the dead urgent aid in the amount of Rs 5 lakh each.
