Speeding Vehicle Kills Rare Indian Hare in Manas National Park

A rare Indian hare was tragically struck and killed by a speeding, unidentified vehicle near the entrance of the Banhbari range in Manas National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on August 20.

The incident has sparked concern among environmentalists and nature enthusiasts. The high-speed vehicle, which fled the scene, underscores the ongoing issue of vehicle-related wildlife casualties in the park.

Dhanjit Das, a local nature lover, expressed frustration over the incident, urging authorities to enforce stricter traffic regulations to protect the park’s wildlife. He highlighted the danger posed by speeding vehicles, which frequently result in the death of various small animals.

Environmental groups are calling for immediate measures to safeguard the park’s diverse ecosystem and prevent future tragedies.
