Guwahati: A SpiceJet flight headed for Jabalpur made a return to the Delhi airport after the crew and passengers on board noticed smoke in the cabin on Saturday morning.
According to SpiceJet spokesperson, the smoke was discovered when the aircraft was travelling at a height of 5000 feet.
The spokesperson said, “On July 2, 2022, SpiceJet Q400 aircraft was operating SG-2962 (Delhi-Jabalpur). While passing 5000ft, the crew noticed smoke in the cabin. The pilots decided to return back to Delhi. Aircraft landed safely at Delhi and passengers were safely disembarked.”

It has happened twice in the past month that a SpiceJet jet has had to turn around owing to a technical problem. On June 19, a SpiceJet aeroplane headed for New Delhi made a forced landing in Patna after catching fire in midair. The private airliner had issued a statement claiming that a bird had struck the aircraft.
Flight SG-3724, PAT – GAU, was being flown on June 25 by a SpiceJet Q400 aircraft.
The fuselage door warning light was on during the take-off roll. The take-off was subsequently rejected and the aircraft made a return to the harbour.
