Sribhumi Police Seize ₹34 Crore Worth of Narcotics, Two Arrested During Holi Anti-Drug Operation
Guwahati: In a significant anti-drug operation, Sribhumi police made a major narcotics seizure during Holi celebrations.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a team led by Sribhumi Police Superintendent Partha Pratim Das raided a truck (AS01/LC/6436) in the bypass area near Sribhumi city. The truck, originating from Champhai, Mizoram, was thoroughly searched, leading to the discovery of 80,000 Yaba tablets hidden in the vehicle’s gearbox.
Two individuals, Samim Uddin and Tanzil Abedin, both residents of Kalain, Cachar, were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is approximately ₹34 crores.
Superintendent Das confirmed the arrests and the seizure, highlighting the continued efforts to tackle drug smuggling in the region. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the larger trafficking network behind the operation.
