Guwahati: A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan allegedly died by shooting himself with his service rifle in Bongaigaon district of Assam on Thursday night.
The incident took place at an SSB camp in Saprakata area of the district.
The jawan identified as 29-year-old Ankit Kumar. He was a resident of Muzaffarpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Reportedly, he was posted as part of 6th battalion SSB
Soon after the incident, SSB officials and police reached the spot.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated by the officials.
However, the exact reason behind the jawan taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
