SSB Nabs Illegal Mining Mafia Near India-Bhutan Border in Assam
Kokrajhar: The 6th Battalion of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), stationed at Ranighuli, Kokrajhar, apprehended an illegal mining mafia and seized a dumper loaded with stones near the India-Bhutan border.
Acting on secret intelligence, personnel from Border Out Post (BOP) Shashipur launched an operation approximately 8 kilometers inside Indian territory from pillar number 171/5 in the Balajan village-Tipkai River area.
During the patrol, they intercepted and arrested the suspect along with the illegally mined stones being transported in a dumper.
Following the arrest, the culprit and seized vehicle were handed over to the Forest Range Office, Koila Moila, for further legal proceedings.
The 6th Battalion of SSB has been actively curbing illegal mining and smuggling operations along the India-Bhutan border through enhanced patrolling and strict surveillance in the region’s forest areas. This latest arrest underscores the force’s commitment to combating environmental crimes and preserving natural resources.
