STF Detains Five Individuals with Wildlife Animal Parts Including Rhino Horn in Assam
Guwahati, 23rd August: In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) in Guwahati detained five individuals after a substantial cache of wildlife animal parts, including a rhino horn, were seized during a late-night operation in Assam’s Kaliabor on Tuesday.
Following intelligence inputs, the STF conducted a raid in the Jakhalabandha area, resulting in the recovery of a range of animal parts. The seized items included an elephant tusk, rhino horn, claws, horns, and skulls of deer, as well as body parts of a pangolin.
The five individuals taken into custody in connection with the recovery have been identified as Ghaffar Qureshi, Wakil Qureshi, Saiful Islam, Ujjal Bora, and A Sarma.
Law enforcement agencies are actively interrogating the detainees to gather more information and facts related to the seizure of wildlife animal parts. This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to combat the illegal wildlife trade and protect endangered species.
