Guwahati: In a horrific incident, a student’s body was found on Monday in a bludgeoned state in Jonai of Assam, officials said.
According to the police, it appeared to be a homicide at first glance. They claimed that the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning in Udaypur of Jonai.
The deceased was identified as Kaling Mayang.
According to reports, Mayang is a student of Lisang Junior College in Jonai in the Dhemaji district of Assam.
The deceased was reportedly attacked and killed as he was walking home from the ongoing “Raas” festival in every state.
Authorities reported that they found the body in a bloody state. Meanwhile, one person has been arrested by the police in connection with the case after preliminary inquiries.
The accused has been identified by officials as Metin Patir.
Police officials further informed that he has been taken in for questioning and further course of action will be intimated soon.
