Students Collapse Due to Heat During Independence Day Parade in Assam
Guwahati, 15th August: During an Independence Day parade event in Assam’s Morigaon district, around 22 students reportedly fainted due to the scorching heat. The students had participated in the parade march as part of the Independence Day celebrations, with the District Commissioner Devashish Sharma as the chief guest.
As the event was taking place and the DC was delivering a speech, the students felt dizzy and collapsed due to the heat. They were quickly attended to, and all of them were rushed to a civil hospital in Morigaon for medical attention.
Thankfully, all the students are reported to be in stable condition and are receiving further treatment. However, there have been allegations of negligence on the part of the event organizers. Eyewitnesses claim that proper drinking water facilities and refreshments were not provided to the students to combat the heat wave.
The incident underscores the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, especially during outdoor events held in extreme weather conditions.
