Students Physically Assaults Hostel Staff at NIT-Silchar, second case in 7 months

Guwahati, 18th February: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar in Assam has been thrust into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons following a major altercation involving students on the premises, as reported on Sunday.

According to sources, three cooks from one of the college hostels sustained serious injuries after being physically assaulted by a group of students.

The incident unfolded at hostel no. 7 of NIT Silchar on Friday night. It is reported that an argument between the students and the cooks escalated into violence.

In addition to attacking the cooks, the students also caused extensive damage to kitchen equipment and facilities.

Subsequently, NIT authorities have launched an investigation into the matter following its emergence, according to reports.
