“Study Science or Commerce, it will Help to Get Job,” says Ranoj Pegu

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has urged HSLC graduates to major in science or commerce.

While addressing a press conference, Pegu said, “I recommend the HSLC passed students to study Science or Commerce as it helps to obtain a job easier.”

He added that he was pleased with the results of the Higher Secondary examination that were declared today. “This year’s outcome is the best in a decade. The screening undertaken in Class X is the sole reason why this year’s pass percentage is the highest, he added.

Pegu further added that although there are far less students in the Commerce and Science streams. However, the majority of them passed with a first or second division.

Pegu further informed that the state has 1.12 lakh seats available in the science stream. “The processes of filling up the vacancies of PG teachers are going on and IIT professors will train the Science teachers,” he said.

The higher secondary (HS) results were released by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Monday.

The results for the three streams, that is, science, arts and commerce were declared today. The total pass percentage in Assam was recorded at 87.64 per cent.
