Guwahati: Congress leader Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu took the oath of office as the next Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh at a ceremony in Shimla on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Mukesh Agnihotri was sworn in as the state’s deputy CM.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also present in the ceremony.
Sukhu, who has the backing of the majority of Congress members, emerged from the field of three candidates for the position of chief minister after gaining 40 seats in the 68-member Assembly.
